Bangladesh blocks superhighway project

5 August 2005: The Asian superhighway project has hit a roadblock, because China has convinced Bangladesh that its trade interests would be better served by linking Chittagong with Kunming, but plans have been finalised in India, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and Singapore to take it through Dhaka.
At the instance of these countries, Natwar Singh broached the matter with Bangladesh
