Unprovoked BDR firing to be taken up at BSF-BDR talks in Dhaka2006-03-29 Kolkotta: The frequent incidents of unprovoked firing by the Bangladesh Rifles on Indian villagers would be raised at the BSF-BDR director general-level meeting at Dhaka late next month.''We are concerned about incidents on firing on innocent villagers which takes place sometimes. It will be among the main agenda at the next BSF-BDR DG-level meeting in Dhaka for an amicable solution,'' newly appointed BSF Director General Ashish Kumar Mitra told a press conference here during a stopover en route to Agartala. Citing yesterday's BDR firing at Kakchipara in Coochbehar district, which claimed three Indian villagers lives, he said there were flag meetings between the border guards of the two countries from time to time. ''We must take a serious note of it during the talks in Dhaka,'' he said. ''If required we have to increase our strength to ensure border vigil,'' he said. The meeting would also take up the issues of anti-Indian terrorist camps in Bangladesh and completion of fencing along the Indo-Bangla border, Mitra said. Stating that these issues were discussed in earlir DG-level meetings with no result, Mitra said another initiative would be taken to resolve the problem. Sponsored Links
