11 August 2005: Since the furore over the Nanavati report, agencies have noted heightened activity among Babbar Khalsa operatives, and although nearly forty of them out of some identified sixty persons have been arrested, there are apprehensions of violence and even attempted suicide bombings from the banned group.
Agency sources said that the ISI has allied with the Babbar Khalsa and has commenced sponsoring its terrorism here, and to target the main accused in the 1984 riots, Jagdish Tytler, Sajjan Kumar, Dharam Dass Shastri, H.K.L.Bhagat, and others, several of them provided Z-category security, the group is looking to turn some of the riot victims, children by and large without a future, into human bombs, with promised payment of Rs 10-20 lakh to their families.
Consequently, security to the riot accused has been further tightened.
