Sri Lanka Air force fighters destroyed a boat manufacturing yard of the LTTE terrorists this evening (Friday the 18th of August) by aerial bombardment.
The Media Center for national Security says the boat yard located at Thalayadi in Campianpaththuwa area has been destroyed and many terrorists were killed in the attack.
The target has long been identified as a key boat manufacturing factory of the LTTE .
LTTE skunked three Fast Attack crafts and launched few other seaborne attacks at the Navy during the ceasefire in the guise of fishermen.
Meanwhile military sources from Jaffna say that the normalcy is being gradually restored in the Peninsula. The security forces gained the full control of the FDL and the consolidation of defenses was completed this morning.
Security Forces yesterday opened the Omanthai entry-exit point on the Jaffna Kandy A-9 highway at 2.30 p.m to facilitate the transportation of essential items to uncleared areas in Killinochchci and Mullaitivu districts, the Media Centre for National Security (MCNS) said yesterday.
MCNS Senior Coordinator Major Upali Rajapaksa said the decision to open the entry exit point in Omanthai was also aimed at facilitating hundreds of civilians stranded in Vavuniya due to closure of the road on Saturday after fierce fighting erupted in the Jaffna peninsula.
However, Major Rajapaksa said the entry-exit point will only be opened for a limited period until the Essential Services Commissioner is satisfied that the civilian population in the uncleared areas received sufficient stocks of food items.
The Muhamalai entry-exit point on the Jaffna-Kandy A-9 highway remained closed since safety of the civilians can not be ensured.
