News agency Reuters reports the death of atleast 20 Tamil civilians in Sri Lankan air strikes in the Trincomalee region. Trincomalee is a strategic port in the eastern section of the Islad.

"There are 20 civilians dead and 26 wounded," Tiger military spokesman Rafiah Ilanthiraiyan said by telephone from the rebel headquarters in the town of Kilinochchi.

"They are continually shelling and bombing populated areas in our control. They have advanced and reached our lines.

Sri Lanka had resorted to mass air strikes, often on Civilian target, during the recent bout of violence between the Tamils and the Army.

Sri Lanka has also sought Pakistan's cooperation in radicalizing the muslim community to take up arms and wage 'jihad' against the Tamils.

The Sri Lankan Army had raised a Muslim Battalion in 2005, and there are Pakistani strategists present in Sri Lanka conducting this war against the LTTE.
