PM visit may push nuclear deal with France

3 September 2005: After attending the UN General Assembly session, prime minister Manmohan Singh is likely to visit France and discuss two nuclear projects with president Jacques Chirac, one for setting up a civilian nuclear reactor, and the second to upgrade atomic command and control systems.
Official and diplomatic sources also said that France was keen to finalise the Euro 7-billion deal to manufacture six Scorpene diesel electric submarines here in Mazgaon Docks, which would considerably incentivise Chirac
