Unidentified persons kidnapped four officials of Pakistan's Atomic Energy Commission from their office.

Five employees of the Commission were in their office at Banda Daud Shah tehsil in Karak district when four armed men entered the compound and demanded keys of some vehicles from the drivers there.

Then they took away four officials and three vehicles with them, local daily Dawn quoted police officials as saying. The office was established a few years back following discovery of high-grade uranium in the area.

Karak is a district of the North-West Frontier Province, Pakistan. It is situated to the south of Kohat District and on the north side of Bannu and Lakki Marwat districts. The region is close to the Afghan border and is located in the Al Qaida-Taliban dominated North West Frontier Province (NWFP).
