Admiral Sureesh Mehta, Chief of the Naval Staff is undertaking a visit of UK from 18 to 23 Jun 2007. The visit is aimed at enhancing IN – RN relations and to further areas of cooperation, further the scope of content in combined exercises and cross attachment of personnel.
Whilst at UK, Admiral Mehta is scheduled to meet the First Sea Lord (Chief of the Naval Staff) of the Royal Navy, the Chief of Defence Staff and the Permanent Under Secretary of Defence. He will also be visiting a naval shipyard, Permanent Joint Headquarters and Royal Naval Training Establishments.
Discussions on the security situation in the Indian Ocean Region, West and South East Asia and about the experiences of the UK Armed Forces in the recent past are also on the agenda. The modalities for sharing of information in the maritime domain are likely to figure prominently.
