Indian and Singapore armies will hold joint artillery exercises at Deolali, near Nasik in Maharashtra, later this month. The Singapore Army will be represented by an over 100-member contingent.

Singapore recently signed a long term military agreement with India which established even stronger military ties between the two Asian nations. Furthermore Singapore has also leased out a military base in Eastern India

The Singapore Armed Forces comprises three branches: the Singapore Army, the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) and the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN). The SAF relies heavily on a large pool of conscripted soldiers in the active and reserve forces. It is capable of mobilizing over 300,000 reserves and has an active force of 72,500 for the defence of Singapore.
