Kerela Police, Security Forces Grapple Terror Recruitment Networks in North Kerela Regon2008-10-28 Having confirmed that four militants from Kerala were killed in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir earlier this month, Kerala police and its intelligence wing have stepped up efforts to ascertain details of the networks recruiting youths for terrorist outfits. In a startling revelation, Faisal, who was arrested two days back and lodged in prison in Kannur, has told police he had recruited several youths from various parts of Kerala for extremist outfits operating outside the state. Faisal reportedly told the police during questioning that Mohammad Fayas and Muhammad Fahis, both from Kannur, who were killed in an encounter, were taken to Hyderabad last month. According to media reports Faisal had admitted to police that he had recruited as many as 300 youths, but a police officer in the special investigating team told PTI that "we are yet to make a final assessment as to how many persons got recruited by Faizal". In this connection, police said two more persons were taken into custody in Kannur for their suspected involvement in the recruitment network of Faisal. Police are, however, yet to confirm for which particular organisation most of them were enrolled and given training in camps held in places like Hyderabad. Based on the clues obtained from Faisal, the investigation is focusing on the youths reportedly missing from different places across the state, police said. Sponsored Links
