Rosoboronexport To Begin Mi-171 Delivery 2009 end; Offers Organic Air Defence Systems to India

In an interview to Itar Tass, the deputy director Viktor Komardin of Russian state owned defence company Rosoboronexport confirmed that Mi-171 deliveries will begin from year end 2009 onwards.

Here are excerpts from the report:

-- Supply of 80 Mi-171 helicopters will begin. The first batch will be shipped by the end of this year

-- India and southeast Asia account for more than half of the portfolio of orders of the Russian company

-- Komardin will lead a Rosoboronexport delegation at the Aero India-2009 exhibition

-- Rosoboronexport acknowledges India's progress in Air Defence Systems, does not expect "simple purchases" from India for Air Defence Systems

-- Offers "organic" Air Defence Systems to India
