Israel gets tacit EU backing against Iran

In case of a conflict between Israel and Iran, the European Union will not mobilise in favour of either party, being the clearest indication that the Jewish state has the freedom to defend its interests in any way it chooses, and this follows Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's statement that Israel should be "wiped off the map".
