Task Force on Global Strategic Developments setup2005-11-30 New Delhi: The Minister of State for External Affairs, Shri Rao Inderjit Singh informed the Lok Sabha today that the Government has already set up "Task Force on Global Strategic Developments" on 28th October, 2005 with 7 members and 2 more members were inducted on 18th November, 2005.The Chairman of the Task Force is Shri K. Subrahmanyam. Its members are Prof. Amitabh Mattoo, Sh. Arvind Virmani, Prof. M.S. Ananth, Prof. P. Rama Rao, Sh. R.K. Pachauri, Sh. Tarun Das and Air Marshal (Retd.) Vinod Pandey. Cmde Uday Bhaskar is the Member-Secretary of the Task Force. The Minister further informed that the Task Force comprises experts from diverse fields and has been constituted to examine various facets of the evolving global strategic developments and their implications for India. Shri Rao added that the constitution of the Task Force has been approved by the Prime Minister. The tenure of the members is for a period of 6 months from the date of their first meeting or for such extended period as the Government may determine. The Task Force is serviced by the National Security Council Secretariat.
