Islamabad: The Pakistan government paid Rs.35.6 billion to retired armed forces personnel from the civilian budget in the current fiscal, Finance Secretary Tanveer Agha has told the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).
The finance secretary said more than Rs.1 billion was over-spent in one grant because more people than expected retired in the last fiscal.
'Rs.43 billion were allocated for pensions last year, Rs.35.6 billion for retired armed forces personnel and the remaining amount for retired civil institution personnel,' Daily Times quoted him as saying.
